Why IB (International Baccalaureate) Primary Years Programme (PYP)?

The IB PYP is designed for students aged 3 to 11. It focusses on the over-all development of the child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. It is a framework guided by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, explored using knowledge and skills derived from six subject areas, as well as transdisciplinary skills, with a powerful emphasis on inquiry.

The PYP draws on research and best practices from a range of national systems with a wealth of knowledge and experience from international schools to create a relevant, engaging, challenging and significant educational framework for all children.

The IB Primary Years Programme transdisciplinary themes are as follows:

  • Who we are
  • Where we are in time and place
  • How we express ourselves
  • How the world works
  • How we organise ourselves
  • Sharing the planet
